Russia lost to Slovenia (2:4) in their second group C match and now have to bit Estonia and wait for Italy to win against Slovenians to keep in the race for gold in the Vth Artists’ World Championship.

Russia put a quick goal after Pavel Ivanov fell in the Slovenian box and former “Torpedo” (Moscow) player Vladimir Leonchenko opened the score from 11-metre spot.

Slovenia equalized 10 minutes later when Robert Korosec was faster at the ball than Russian goalkeeper Yuri Davydov and Leonchenko after an accurate centre from the left.

Russia took the lead again on the 18 minute thanks to Pavel Ivanov who passed the ball to Timur Yefremenko in front of the goal – 2:1.

The Slovenians responded immediately with a long-range kick by former Slovenia national team and Russian “Krylia Sovetov” FC Suad Filekovic. Davydov made a fatal mistake letting the ball in the net – 2:2.

In the first minutes of the second half Ilya Glinnikov lost a super opportunity putting the ball in the hands of Tomas Stragar from 8 metres.
Slovenia went ahead after the ball found Tomas Dvorsak amid the crowd in front of the goal – 3:2.

Russian players rushed forward trying to equalize but were punished by Bojan Zrnko free-kick shot from 22 metres.

Now Russia depends upon Italy. If Italians bit Slovenia and Russia make the same against Estonia then goal difference between Russia, Italy and Slovenia will be counted.
