Video clips on big screens, an orchestra at the main entrance to All-Russia Exhibition Centre, airships in the sky with the logos of the Vth Artists’ World Championship, volunteers distributing invitations for matches and concerts – this is the opening ceremony of “Art-football”-2015.
A small boy climbed up the stage where East 17 were performing. Robbie Craig asked him whether he was looking for toilets, An interpreter helped the boy: “He would like to know when the concert ends. He is tired and want to get back home but his mother is your fan and does not want to leave”.
The concert was over 10 minutes later after East 17, special guests of “Art-football”, sang House of Love and It’s Alright.
The Festival began.
As a tradition “Art-football” is held in the frames of the All-Russia charity campaign “Under the flag of Kindness”. Thousands of spectators came to see the opening ceremony on the 5th of June, to watch teams’ presentations and to listen to the voices of East 17.
From June 6 to 14 art-footballers from Russia, Belorus, Estonia, Great Britain, Germany, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kirghizistan, Korea, the Netherlands, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey and Japan divided in 4 groups with 4 squads in each group will compete for the world title at the tournament recognized by FIFA and UEFA as artists’ World Cup. Both Josef Blatter and Michel Platini sent messages of greetings to the organizers of “Art-football”. The games will be played at “Lokomotiv”, “Krylia Sovetov” and “Torpedo” stadiums.
On the final day of the Festival a traditional charity match between the united team of music and sports stars and famous public figures “Rosich-Starco” and the World selection will be played in the frames of “Under the flag of Kindness!” campaign the aim of which is to collect money for seriously ill children in need of expensive medical treatment. Football is only part of the program of “Art-football”.
